Pre & Post Care
Getting the best, safest result starts before you arrive and continues at home. Below is general guidance for our skin and laser treatments. Your clinician will confirm the exact pre and post care for your specific treatment at consultation.

Before your treatment
- Keep a consistent skincare routine (cleanse, serum, moisturise and SPF) in the weeks beforehand so your skin is healthy and not compromised on the day.
- If you have a history of cold sores, a course of anti-viral medication before and after treatment is recommended to prevent an outbreak.
- Avoid sun exposure and sunburn for at least 24 hours prior to treatment.
- Do not attend with an active breakout, active cold sores or open lesions. If this occurs, your treatment will need to be rescheduled.
- Wait at least 1 week before or after Botox, and 2 weeks before or after fillers, to have a microneedling treatment.
- Wait 1 month after any laser treatment (such as IPL or VBeam) or chemical peel.
- Avoid facial waxing for 7 days before your treatment.
- Discontinue actives such as Retinol, Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid for 5 days before your treatment.
- Please let us know about any changes to medication, sun exposure or anything else that may affect the treatment.
After your treatment
- Do not rub, scratch or pick at the treated areas, and avoid tight clothing over them.
- For microneedling, use only the SkinPen Rescue Serum for the first 24 hours and no other products.
- After 2 days you may resume a gentle routine: gentle cleanser, topical supplement, moisturiser and a zinc oxide SPF alongside the Rescue Serum.
- Avoid hot showers for 24 hours and intense exercise for up to 3 days.
- Avoid sun exposure for 3 days. If exposure is unavoidable, apply SPF 30 or higher every 2 hours to prevent pigmentation changes.
- Do not use active skincare (Retinol, acids, Vitamin C) for 7 days after treatment.
What to expect (microneedling)
- Day 1: mild to moderate redness and swelling, similar to sunburn. No sunscreen or makeup should be worn.
- Day 2: some redness and swelling may persist. You may apply sunscreen or makeup.
- Day 3: most redness, bruising and swelling will have subsided.
- Day 4: skin returns to its normal appearance, depending on your own healing response.
